Microsoft has announced a new Xbox Elite Series 2 controller that gives gamers a cheaper entry point into the world of competitive gaming.
The Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller – Core (as it’s officially known) is essentially a Series 2 controller with the accessories removed. You get the same adjustable-tension thumbstick, wrap-around rubberized grip, shorter hair trigger locks, and 40-hour rechargeable battery life for $129.99 instead of $179.99. That’s a lot cheaper than we expect the PS5 DualSense Edge Controller price to be.
However, the Elite Series 2 Core controller doesn’t include the four paddles on the rear, additional thumbstick, D-Pad, or carrying case. You can purchase these separately for $59.99. as part of the Complete Component Pack.
A white Xbox Elite Series 2 controller was spotted in August that all but guaranteed Microsoft was launching a white version of its popular pro gamepad. Still, few predicted that Microsoft was planning to reveal a more price-competitive pad.
If the standard black and white designs of the Elite Series 2 and Elite Series 2 – Core controllers don’t take your fancy, Microsoft also announced that the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is coming to Xbox Design Lab, meaning you can customize its appearance to your heart’s content.
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core and Complete Component Pack are available to pre-order now and will be released on September 29.
