Hey Matt! Let's not forget the highly anticipated (and long awaited remake of) Super Mario RPG on November 17th for the calendar! :D Lots of folks excited about that one (including me haha)!!!
HAHA! Hey, this one is LOOONG overdue and a BIG one... we have been clamoring for Super Mario RPG for years and Nintendo just delivered the best Christmas gift ever! I still don't know how they keep their stuff under wraps like they do... every big Nintendo Direct, I'm sitting here watching and going "How the heck did they keep this secret!?!?!"
Anyhow now that they've done this, I hope that they unleash another surprise and put Geno in Super Smash Bros as their (we promise this'll be the last) last fighter... 😉🤣
SMB Wonder is simply... amazing. The developers did such an incredible job of rethinking the animation style of Super Mario Bros, and all the little fresh & extra animations like warp pipe entering, power up changing, etc. just add such a likable flare to the game that it not only "wonders" the OG SMB gamers like me, but will definitely keep the new generation engaged and captivated. Oh, and don't even get me started with the Wonder Flower and how it morphs the levels into trippy experiences, "Piranha Plants on Parade" sheer greatness! Not sure that it ranks as a game of the year, but definitely needs some kind of award for ingenuity and how a reboot should be done!
It's incredibly difficult to pick a game of the year in 2023 as we've been spoilt for choice! You've sold me on Super Mario Bros. Wonder, though! Will try and pick it up over Christmas.
