You can stream these Ratchet & Clank PS3 games from November 15 instead

🥳 It’s Ratchet & Clank’s 20th anniversary today
👏 To celebrate, five games are coming to PlayStation Plus Premium
😢 However, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for PS5 isn’t included
🤷♂️ Instead, players can claim a free in-game armor pack
Sony is celebrating Ratchet & Clank’s 20th anniversary by adding new games from the series to PlayStation Plus Premium. However, it’s decided against giving away one of the best PS5 games to subscribers in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed that players who own Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart can instead download a free 20th-anniversary armor pack from today, which includes five armors inspired by other games in the franchise.
Commando Armor inspired by Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
Holoflux Armor inspired by Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Quest Armor inspired by Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty
Marauder Armor inspired by Ratchet: Deadlocked
Clank Armor to celebrate the greatest of pals
Five new Ratchet & Clank titles will come to PlayStation Plus Premium on November 15, but they’re all for PS3. That means they can’t be downloaded, only streamed via the cloud. They include:
Ratchet & Clank (PS3)
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (PS3)
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (PS3)
Ratchet & Clank: Deadlocked (PS3)
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3)
It brings the total amount of Ratchet & Clank games on PlayStation Plus Premium up to 10, but we’re still waiting for the Ratchet & Clank (2016) on PS4 to arrive, and more importantly, for Rift Apart to make its way to the service.
Sony recently announced that it had lost two million PlayStation Plus subscribers, which suggests that its revamped service isn’t attracting new members to sign up. In fact, it appears that some people are canceling their PS Plus subscriptions altogether.
I personally don’t see a reason to get PS Plus Extra at this moment in time, despite recommending it for newcomers in my PlayStation Plus Premium review. I still believe the rejigged PS Plus doesn’t offer enough value, and if Sony continues to gatekeep its first-party titles from the service, despite Rift Apart releasing in June 2021, it’ll remain that way for the foreseeable.
Still, if you’re happy to stream PS3 games and have been waiting for more Ratchet & Clank games to hit the PlayStation Plus Premium games list, this rather stingy announcement might be worth celebrating.
