🤔 The ‘Cloud 11’ event teaser says ‘Witness the Shape of Power’
The OnePlus Pro 11 is a little closer to reality today, as the Android smartphone maker announced that its next global launch event is happening early next year.
On February 7, 2023, the OnePlus 11 5G and the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will be revealed in full in New Delhi, India, according to the company. The image teasing this event – called “Cloud 11” – indicates we’ll “Witness the Shape of Power.” The picture also suggests a new phone in matte black with a large circular camera module.
According to a OnePlus representative contacted by The Shortcut, “The theme ‘Cloud 11’ represents the upgraded technology and performance delivered by the brand’s latest products, and to elevate the user experience from Cloud 9 to Cloud 11.”
OnePlus 11 specs
As our OnePlus 10T review points out, OnePlus dialed back the specs of the 10 Pro for the budget-friendly 10T at $650 in August. The OnePlus 11 should be a return to power at a higher but competitive price point, even if the company drops the “Pro” name. It’s been rumored that OnePlus will ditch the “Pro” name for a while.
Naming it the OnePlus 11 instead of the OnePlus 11 Pro is unlikely to have an effect on the specs, which are slated to include a Hasselblad-branded camera (the OnePlus 10T lacked this partnership) and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It’ll launch with Android 13 out of the box and should stick with a 6.7-inch QuadHD+ AMOLED display and the super fast Warp Charger that OnePlus is known for.
The camera is going to be key for the OnePlus 11 to rival Samsung and Apple in 2023, and the Qualcomm chipset should play a hand in helping the company close the gap. While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is capable of supporting a 200MP image sensor – a feat that’s rumored for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – you should expect a 50MP sensor from the OnePlus 11 with some new software tricks to top the OnePlus 10 Pro.
There’s a lot of time between now and February 7, 2023, so we’ll likely see a lot more OnePlus 11 leaks in the coming weeks and maybe some OnePlus Buds Pro 2 teasers. In the Android smartphone world, the new year is going to be all about reporting on Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and OnePlus 11 news, and we’re here for it.
