Imagine it. You’re hanging out at a bar with your handsome friends, when a mournful wail fills your ears. The crowd goes silent and then another woeful peal goes up, even as the former still hangs in the air. You look around to see two different people, desperately clutching their iPhones 12 or newer, which they’ve just discovered are about to die. You glance at your watch. You’re in low power mode! How has it come to this? Yet you’re not worried. Smartly, you reach into your pocket and whip out the MagStack Foldable 3-in-1 wireless charger, which you bought on sale for 35% off at StackSocial.
“What a pal!” everyone says. And they’re right.
Better than MagSafe Duo
The MagStack charger is, almost certainly, the result of some industrial designer looking at the $129 Apple MagSafe Duo and saying, “hold my beer.” It’s essentially the same thing but with three charge pads instead of two, and for much cheaper – less than half the cost at full price and even cheaper now, at $44. It can be folded down into a 1-inch stack that can slip easily into a coat pocket, purse or laptop bag, and uses MagSafe to snap your phone or other magnet-equipped wireless charging device – your AirPods Pro, say – right into place for charging.
The MagStack can output at up to 15 watts, provided you’re using a QuickCharge 3.0 or PD power adapter (not included) and USB-C charging cable (included). It uses the Qi charging standard, making it a great portable wireless charging option for Android users as well, and even comes with a stick-on magnetic ring in case you want to add magnetic charging to your non-MagSafe smartphone.
One last note: the specs list shows compatibility only with Apple Watch Series 1 - 6. While it’s true that the Series 7 and up Watches have their own fast-charging puck, they’re still compatible with all older Apple Watch chargers, so there’s no specific reason the MagStack shouldn’t be able to power your fancy new small-bezel watch – just something to keep in mind as you buy.
