💰 It costs $349.99, but there’s a $50 discount for those who pre-order today
📅 The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld is out October 17 in North America
The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld is an Android-powered device designed with Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now in mind. The handheld will also be able to play Android mobile games, but Logitech hopes it’ll appeal to those who want to play Xbox games via the cloud at home.
The cloud gaming-focused handheld includes an extended battery life of over 12 hours, built-in Wi-Fi, ergonomic controls, haptics, and a 1080p IPS touchscreen with a 60Hz refresh rate and 16:9 aspect ratio. The 64GB of UFS storage can be increased thanks to a microSD card expansion slot.
Despite its core appeal being cloud gaming, the Logitech G Handheld doesn’t support 5G or SIM cards, so you’ll always need a Wi-Fi connection to play, which is admittedly a little odd.
In a blog post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft said:
“Handhelds are a natural next step in our cloud gaming evolution, and it’s great to see a world-class hardware leader like Logitech optimize Xbox Cloud Gaming for their new device. You can jump right in with ease, anywhere you are, and take advantage of the 16:9 full-screen display.”
The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld also supports Remote Play with Xbox consoles, which lets you stream your full Xbox library, not just titles from Xbox Game Pass, to the device. Valve’s Steam Link is also supported.
To access Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is still in beta, you’ll need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Some games, like Fortnite, can be played without a membership, however.
Logitech’s handheld launches on October 17 in North America and costs $349.99. However, you can enjoy a $50 discount if you pre-order it today.
The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld’s price puts it in close competition with Valve’s Steam Deck, which costs $399.99 and is a far more capable device. You can also stream from the cloud on Steam Deck, as well as play Steam and Windows 10 games natively.
