I followed the same route. YouTube Premium is essential (I have 3 YouTube loving kids, so we have the Family membership), and once you have that, Spotify becomes unessential.
I agree with you Ben – "unessential" is the right word for Spotify Premium. It's a nice to have, but YouTube without ads, which covers both YT Music and YT videos I (and my family) watch is way more important. The only analogy would be Spotify Premium + Netflix without ads if Netflix were to become ad-based in the future (like they plan to do). Only then would it be worth $10 a month, IMO.
