Apple isn’t slowing down. On top of launching the iPhone Duo this Friday and announcing HomeView just last week, the company has yet another event on its calendar. The “Pro and tell” event, as teased by Apple SVP of Marketing Greg Joswiak, will be held on October 28 in Los Angeles, where we expect the company to debut its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro.
The laptop has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, evolving from a simple OLED display upgrade to one equipped with touch input. The new MacBook Pro is also rumored to be lighter and thinner than the current version, and it’ll reportedly be powered by the new M6 Pro and M6 Ultra chips. Rumors also point to a punch-hole FaceTime camera and support for the Dynamic Island from the iPhone. It’s set to be one of the biggest fundamental redesigns of the MacBook we’ve ever seen, especially since it’ll support touch input for the very first time.
Elsewhere, Apple is also expected to announce a new 14-inch MacBook Pro as a new entry-level model with an M6 chip. It’s not clear if its design will be changing or if there will be a display upgrade, but it sounds like we’ll get an under-the-hood boost nonetheless. Apple will also reportedly introduce a new iMac powered by the M6 processor.
Another big upgrade at the event? The iPad mini. Apple hasn’t refreshed it since 2024, and this year, it’s set to get one of the biggest upgrades it’s ever gotten with an OLED display. Some rumors suggest it’ll come with a 120Hz refresh rate, too, which would be killer. We also anticipate a new chipset and a tweaked design that’s a bit more water resistant.
We’ll be covering everything that Apple announces during its event next week, so keep it locked to The Shortcut and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already.
