The monthly Amazon PS5 restock remains the most popular way that people try to buy the Sony console in 2022. That means you should also check out other stores in the United States, including Walmart and Best Buy, which always have more PS5 console inventory than Amazon. The Target PS5 restock and Sony Direct PS5 queue are also ways to find the PlayStation 5 in stock and increase your chances.

Amazon is one of the lead places for PS5 games on sale, discounted PS5 controller colors, and the best SSD for PS5 options at their lowest prices, so it’s natural to want to buy the PlayStation 5 console from there, too. However, patience is key because it’s the most popular store and they hold the video game systems for larger drops once a month.

Amazon PS5 restock time

The new Amazon PS5 invitation system has changed things up. However, the usual restock time is consistently between 10:30am ET to 11:28am ET once a month when it happens nationwide in the US. There were a few times in late 2021 when the Amazon PS5 restock stretched to 2pm ET for the PS5 Digital Edition console, which sold quickly whenever that happened. There’s also a pattern to the Amazon PS5 restock date: between the 19th and the 30th of each month.

That PS5 restock time at Amazon has been consistent for 2022, while the end-of-the-month date pattern has been true since Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Unlike each Walmart PS5 restock, Amazon doesn’t announce when it’ll restock new consoles.

In other words, if you want to buy the PS5 from Amazon in June 2022, stay aware of the Twitter tracker alerts during the prime restock time of 10:30am ET to 11:28am ET.

Amazon PS5 restock time during Prime Fall

The next Amazon Prime Day is rumored to be called Amazon Prime Fall, or Prime Fall, and it may be in October 2022, and a big PS5 restock could happen then.

Here’s a lesson: last year there was a massive (though short-lived as demand was even higher than it was today) Amazon PS5 restock during the last three hours of Prime Day. That sent hundreds of thousands of its customers to their shopping carts to checkout with anything and everything they were on the fence about.

The Amazon PS5 restock is always sold and shipped online, unlike the Target PS5 restock, which requires an online checkout but an in-store pickup. Amazon doesn’t have much of a store presence in the United States, so this makes sense.

The official PS5 price will be $499 for PS5 Disc, so you won’t have to get anything like a GameStop PS5 bundle. While the Amazon PS5 restock invitation system is new, you’re more likely to get a response from the Sony Direct PS5 queue because invite emails are more frequent.

There’s one more caveat to the Amazon PS5 invitation system and the “around 10:30am ET" Amazon PS5 drop time pattern: in October of last year, Amazon initiated the PS5 Disc restock as a 12pm ET “Treasure Truck Drop.” What is Amazon Treasure Truck Drop? A one-product-a-day surprise sale that happens at noon ET every day. Twice in 2021 the daily “Treasure Truck” had the PlayStation 5 console (both times it was the PS5 Disc edition).

While you can never let your guard down when it comes to these restocks, your awareness should be heightened between 10:30am ET and 12:05pm ET at the end of each month – if you really want to buy the PS5 Disc console at MSRP.

So, basically, be very aware from 10:30am ET to 12:05am ET every day this week.

How to check out during an Amazon PS5 restock remains a mystery to a lot of people. Too often people give up without refreshing the page a few times or don’t spend time reading how to effectively purchase the Sony PS5 console. If there’s one piece of advice to give, it’s to not give up right away.

• You’ll need to have an active Amazon Prime membership to get the PS5

• Click on the Amazon PS5 Disc or Digital link (I’ll tweet when the PS5 is in stock) when I notify you that there’s a PlayStation 5 restock. Don’t wait.

• If you don’t see the Add to Cart button, click on “See All Buying Options.” This will reveal a window that lists the $499 PS5 Disc price. Beware of resellers trying to sell the console for a lot more before and after the restock.

• See pic above: 1) If Amazon isn’t showing “See All Buying Options” or if it isn’t working, try tapping “Add to list,” then 2) “View list” from the next menu. This adds the PS5 console to your Wish List and, importantly, ushers you away from the stressed PS5 product page where millions are refreshing to try to buy it. Tap Add to Cart from this personalized page.

• Finally: if you see a dogs-themed 404 error page, don’t give up. It can take up to 30 minutes to check out with the PS5. The ‘Amazon Dogs’ errors will go away as more people give up. That’s usually when persistent buyers get the console.

An Amazon PS5 Digital Edition restock is extremely rare, as mentioned in our PS5 Disc vs PS5 Digital comparison. While Amazon did have the PS5 Digital console on March 30, I have some guidance for you regarding this $399 edition of the Sony console at all retailers in the United States: Sony hasn’t been making nearly as many PS5 Digital Edition consoles compared to the PS5 Disc version. I’ve confirmed this information by tracking PS5 sales through both Amazon and other retailers like Walmart. The exclusive data I’ve compiled shows that you’re 14 times more likely to get a PS5 Disc console than the PS5 Digital Edition.

So while you can try for the Amazon PlayStation 5 Digital Edition for $399 in the future, spending the extra $100 for the PS5 Disc console may be the surer route and you can always save money in other ways by finding the latest PlayStation Plus discount code and then downloading PS Plus free games monthly.

Amazon PS5 restock dates for July 2022

While the Amazon PS5 Disc restock time is easy to nail down, the actual in-stock date is a bit trickier. However, we have a usual window of dates: the Amazon PS5 drops are between the 19th to the 30th of any given month, based on my analysis of the Amazon PS5 restock history (updated for the July 2022 Amazon restock).

Amazon usually has a PS5 restock once a month, although it skipped out on giving us a PS5 drop in January and the February stock was nothing more than a blip. The PS5 restock in March 2022 was just for the PS5 Digital, with the PS5 Disc version never coming through by March 31. This may be why we saw the PS5 restock on April 19, 2022 happen earlier than we’ve usually seen from the US retailer.

Last Amazon PS5 restock

Amazon, for the first time, announced a PS5 restock, giving us the restock time and date in March. That was March 30, and although the actual restock time was 15 minutes late, it did offer the Sony console and a few people were able to successfully check out with the Digital Edition. Other consumers were greeted with photos of dogs (Amazon employee dogs act as the 404 error pages); cute, but not when you’re really eager to buy a PS5 console.

And then it’s on to tracking the PSVR 2 pre-order date, as the official PS5 VR headset is likely going to be sold out whenever it does launch.
